Dr. Lucy R. Hudson is a native of Emporia, Virginia, and is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master of Education in Adult Learning with a focus on Literacy, Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies, Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning, and a Doctor of Educational Leadership.

Dr. Lucy has over 19 years of experience in academic advising and student development, as well as public, financial, and human resource management in various roles at Virginia Commonwealth University and as a Learning Specialist/Trainer with the Academic Support Center at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, and as an adjunct instructor at both VCU and Reynolds.

​

She specializes in student development, social skills building, comprehension skills development, increasing student engagement, leadership building, and adult career and personal development! She has trained multiple tutors in student engagement and understanding and implementing learning style strategies, using the vision mapping technique!

​

Currently, Dr. Lucy serves as the Director of  Academic Operations in the Department of Psychology and is the Co-Program Manager for the VCU African American Alumni Council Mentoring Circle! Outside of the university setting, Lucy serves as an Associate Minister and Youth Minister at 7th Street Memorial Baptist Church in Richmond, VA!

 

Dr. Lucy's main goal is to help others reach their full potential. She is a mentor, aunt, friend. counselor, and cheerleader, but most of all an Educational Motivator!
